Light play
Naveen wrote this with the iPhone :)
We actually wanted to try funny faces at different spots. But the light exposure did not turn out to be uniform. Then we tried this .. it was challenging to get all the letters right. Basically you are writing in the air !
And I say 'we' everywhere here as this was a collaborative effort. I learn a few new tricks and it was a fun 1/2 hr, well spent indeed.
Exposure: bulb
Aperture: 4.0
ISO: 400

frame this one bro.. seriously.. lovely :-)
ReplyDeleteand if you are printing.. you may want to reduce the intensity of the whites .. especially at the beginning and end of every character..
ReplyDeleteAwesome P! This is amazing...very very original.
ReplyDeleteHow did you write it, did you photoshop the hand out? As you can tell..I am still thinking about this one..good one!
ReplyDeleteWe have a definite winner !!
ReplyDeleteExcellent concept and effort !
Few questions:
- Is this one snap or multiple
- What was the shutter speed ?
- How did you manage the dark light .. shot in a dark room ?
Amazing snap again ...
Thanks people! You don't know how happy this makes me feel :)
ReplyDelete- This was a single image
- No post processing
- Just set up the camera on a tripod with a remote switch in a dark room. We had it in our living room with the lights off.
- Play with light in front of the camera! Exposure set to bulb.
- Credit goes to Naveen's steady hands to move the iPhone to form the letters just right.
- If you are the reading kinds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulb_(photography)
- We tried a torch light, didn't work. Too much light.
- iPhone to the rescue. Turn it on and off to make any pattern.
- I wonder how a LED pen would have been.
All: suggest ideas where we can use this technique.
Vivek: The projection happened on thin air only, directed at the camera. A bulb exposure makes sure that there is enough time to write all the characters before the shutter is closed.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is nice... How did you manage to draw "A" so well?
