Big Basin cascade

For my entry this week, I went to Big Basin State Park. Here's a motion-blurred photo from Golden Cascade.

EXIF is included in the JPG: exposure 1/4 sec, f/8, ISO 200, focal length 22mm.

  1. Excellent shot, Mr.Petolino. I love the composition, and the colors.

  2. this is lovely.. it never really occurred to me that waterfall with slow shutter would be considered motion blur.. but then, it is.. something i learned today :)

awesome shot.. if i really have to bitch about something.. it would be about the top left corner.. that part of the sensor real estate seems wasted.. and may be also the bottom half.. but then, it also depends on the camera angle.. traditionally, waterfalls are best shot when the camera is facing them.. i am guessing you didn't have an opportunity..

  4. The crispness in the shot is truly lovely. The mobility of the water is in sharp contrast to the stability of the rocks and leaves.

  5. great angle. It is a unique one in that I've usually shot waterfalls facing them. This shows a nice dip in the flow before the 'water falls'.

The colors surrounding the white makes for a great contrast.

  6. Very nice composition. I've always wanted to shoot one of those. Still trying to figure out the "M" mode on my D40 to get the intentional blur. The manual talks about it a little bit, in a confusing way.
