Its All About Colors
This piano/xylophone combo toy was a gift Aanya got on her birthday. Ever since I saw it, I was tempted to shoot it, since the colors were so captivating (most of the colors are bright). The colors almost always put me in a uplifting frame of mind.
I used my 50mm prime lens, placed the toy next to a window (not much sun-shine to play with). Set the ISO to 100, since I didnt want much noise in the picture. Post-processing done to crop the picture, and to add the border and title.

NJ - I would have preferred it if the focus was towards the front ( maybe even the back ) of the xylophone instead of being in the middle.
ReplyDeleteNice colorful subject. I agree with Prakruthi's comments about the focus point. Also, it might look better with a little more contrast, saturation, and brightness. Try applying an S-shaped Curves adjustment layer.
ReplyDeleteJoe, I don't think I know how to apply the S-shaped curve adjustment layer. Perhaps u can show it to me sometime.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with P's comments. If teh Focal point was in the front of the picture & the depth of field was a little more it would be even better
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, people. I'll shoot the pic as you guys suggested and post it on my flickr site, and provide a link.
ReplyDeletenaveen.. while you are it it.. see if you can get some reflections off them white buttons :) will be pretty cool..
ReplyDeletecan you also mention the camera config you used to take the shot.. will help us to see a bit more into it..
i see just one button that is in focus.. which would be ok if that was the subject.. since you already mentioned you will submit another one.. i will wait for the same before i comment more..
..had a similar idea with Akhil's toys. I like the depth...maybe you could line up the 2nd version to be more symmetrical. this one looks like it is tilting to the left a bit. But, I this angle, as opposed to the horizontal view, takes advantage of your aperture settings..
