I am not good with deadlines or following "specific" orders/directions/requirements.. found it very hard to take a shot that even remotely matches the theme of the week Naveen proposed.. I was at my buddy's restaurant this evening and when one of the chefs was cooking.. and i took a shot (among many others)...

I used my sigma 50mm 1.4.. kicks the daylights out of the canon nifty fifty or almost all others in all aspects with in the price-range or double the price range.. except for the Leica and the Zeiss which require me to sell one of (my) kidneys to own them..

ISO: 100
Aperture: f/7.1
Shutter speed: 1/160
Metering: Matrix (i actually didn't pay attention to it. it was default
Camera: Canon 5d (the old one)

If anyone has enough time to take a look at the other "contenders" i had before i decided on this one.. check this

have a wonderful weekend folks..

  1. Fantastic shot, Sheshu, love the colors, and the composition. Even a tomato looks very palatable, when captured in this manner.

Co-incidently, this shot matches the theme of the week. A theme is a guideline. There are no bounds to express oneself through photography, but its fun to see how everyone has a different meaning to what a simple theme.

  2. Very very nice my man! Not sure if I see some specs on the lens or if it just oil splatter.

"Smokin' Hot" is what I would have called it.

  3. love the sizzle. The bubbles. The reflection. Never really pictured a tomato this way.

  4. Makes me hungry! I especially like the black cooking surface (teppan grill?) an the oil drops in the foreground. The only improvement I can think of is to use riper tomatoes, but maybe you can adjust the colors to make them look riper. ;^)
