Rose is a rose is a rose
Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose
Loveliness extreme.

It was 'Hello AEB' for me. Yes, Yes, I had never used the auto-bracketing feature..
This shot was quite underexposed and I played around in iPhoto to make it look like this.
1/500, f/5.6, ISO=100, shutter priority

very very cool shot P.. why was this under exposed at the first place ?? not enough light ?
ReplyDeletei love the framing, even at 5.6 the background is fairly bokeh-ish and over all, looks nice and sharp enough..
Well, there was enough light. Like I said I was playing around with AEB with 2-3 stops and I liked this underexposed picture the best. I felt it looked softer.
ReplyDelete@Sheshu: I saw her walking around with a camera @ 6.30AM. UnGodly hour, for sure, but she was enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteGood composition, Preetu. The picture looks a little grainy, I owe that to the under-exposed shot and post-processing. If there is a lot of blackness in the picture, Photoshop won't know how to work on these pixels.
And yes, thanks for actually posting a picture. It has been a while since anyone posted any pics.
P.. the theory behind AEB is that you take a few shots with bracketing and then blend them.. that way, you combine the goodies of differently metered shots.. not pick one of them..
ReplyDeleteit is always a great idea to shoot early in the morning if you are after flowers, insects etc.. there is dew which makes flowers look better and insects don't move much in the morning either..
yes.. i agree with naveen.. thanks for posting.. hopefully everyone will wake up now :)
@seshu, yup I know. But I do not know the process involved for HDR. Maybe for the next assignment I'll try that. I got photoshop now :)
ReplyDeleteHDR is a different beast and there is not enough dynamic range in this shot for HDR. Blending is what you usually do with auto bracketing.. and you use photo shop or many other simple photo editing tools to do it.. the assumption is, when you did AEB, you were using a tripod and nothing changed other than AEB settings..
ReplyDeleteAh! See, I used a feature without really learning what it would do for me.
ReplyDeleteSo what is the difference between HDR and blending? Is it just having more dynamic ranges? I believe the process for HDR is to take differently exposed shots and blend them? yeah?
I am sooooo new :D
even HDR needs multiple images blended together to work effectively.. and combining images is only part of the HDR process.. then you need to tone map and do some other good stuff before you get a image that doesn't look like it was taken in Mars.. though you will see tons of fake HDRs all over the web done with a single image..
ReplyDeleteblending is just combining multiple images.. ideally, you use a tripod, focus on a subject, autobracket and shoot and then use photoshop or other tool and blend the images.. your first post was a good candidate for AEB and blending..
and remember, bracketing is not just for exposure, depending on cameras, people bracket other settings too (manually or automagically).. like white balance and such..
"I am sooooo new :D".. we all are.. :)
Awesome shot P. I like the way you have framed it.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to go over all the comments :) I want to try HDR, but just haven't gotten around to taking a picture that is worth it.
EIther ways, just the fact that you tried AEB is good. I have never ever used it..
Also, thx for putting up a picture. It has lit the fire under my seat..dunno if I can do anything with the current assignment, but definitely pumped for the next one.
"dunno if I can do anything with the current assignment".. why not ??? its been 3 weeks and i don't see any excuse that can be valid..
ReplyDeleteits your camera and you are allowed to use it any which way you like.. why is that hard ? :-)
I will upload some shot for sure by tomorrow evening.. and if we start picking and choosing which assignment we shoot and which we don't; unless we have a real valid reason, this blog will lose its value.. at least for me for sure..
Easy tiger..
ReplyDeleteI am just sayin'.. ;-)
ReplyDelete.....good contrast with the greenery in the background. Shows a hint of 'red', too.
