Cherry Blossoms

...never used the flower setting on my d40x, so on our recent trip to Japan, thought to take advantage of the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom. Here is a closeup that I took!!

Shutter: 1/100
Metering: Matrix
Aperture: f5.6
Exposure: Close up
Focal: 200 mm

  1. Pretty pretty!

Would have been awesome if the whole branch was in focus. Maybe using multiple focus points?

  2. Cherry blossom season is a great time in Japan, I've heard. Glad you could make it that at this time of the year.

What would make the picture more catchy: If there was something to contrast in the picture, like a bunch of green leaves in the background, and the cherry blossom in sharp focus in the foreground.

  3. while i would urge everyone to start exploring the manual button in your respective cameras and take control.. this is a pretty good pic.. a bit too loud/bright in some parts.. but still pretty decent.. the haziness in some parts and sharpness ?(dont know if that was planned) actually makes it look good.. good one Chethan..

P.. multiple focus points feature is over rated... and not many cameras do it well.. sometimes u get lucky with them .. that's all.. stick to single point and pay attention to what your focus point is and what is that you want to capture..

  4. Nice! I agree with Naveen, contrasting the white flowers would probably have made the picture better. But it looks like the tree was mostly covered with the flowers :)
